报告题目:Oxidative Stress in Plant Mitochondria

The mitochondria are one of the main sites of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) production in the plant cell. Superoxide, and subsequently hydrogen peroxide, is produced by the electron transport chain (ETC) as well as by other reactions inside the mitochondria. A number of enzyme systems are found in the mitochondrial matrix for removing hydrogen peroxide, which can cause damage especially if it interacts with free metal ions to produce the highly reactive hydroxyl radical. ROS can oxidize proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. A wide range of proteases and peptidases are found in mitochondria to degrade oxidized proteins and the resulting peptides may participate in retrograde signaling to activate nuclear genes to alleviate the oxidative stress. However, hydrogen peroxide has also served as a stress messenger and the feasibility of this will be considered.

Ian M. Møller,丹麦奥胡斯大学 (Aarhus University) 分子生物学和遗传学系副教授,中国科学院植物研究所访问教授,主要研究方向为植物线粒体和氧化胁迫。在Plant Cell, Plant Physiology, Annual Review of Plant Biology 等期刊共发表SCI论文 183 篇,共被引用5300次 (H-index="40)。
